Although my name is Maureen, everyone calls me Mo, hence the title of this site, ‘Mo Marketing.’ Since this is an outreach project of a class, and most of you on this site are from my class, I will not rehash what I had already written during our introductory posts. Instead, here are some things I haven’t shared about myself that might give you some insight into who I am.
I’m a gelotologist.. Okay, not really. Gelotology is the study of humor and laughter. I suppose I’m just a follower of it. I feel that having a good time, smiling and laughing is a necessary part of every day. A positive attitude helps us feel better, it has beneficial effect on health. Laughter lowers stress hormones, increases our heart rate, helps us breathe more deeply, and stretches many different muscles in our face and upper body.
I always want more. Seems like a simple comment, but it really speaks to who I am. I am always looking for something more; more out of life, more out of my career, so on and so forth. This inability for me to never be content with what I have and where I am would probably drive most people nuts. Luckily, I have a very understanding husband who is happy to go along for the ride.
I am a junk food fanatic. I love to eat everything that is bad for me, from McDonald’s to Spaghetti-O’s, from crème sticks to Dorito’s. I’m at the point in my life where I need to change this horrible habit, but I just haven’t figured out how to begin eating healthier while still enjoying food. Why am I including this in my blog? Because admitting you have a problem is the first step. My name is Mo, and I am a junk food fanatic.
I’m a contradiction. I like country music and gangsta rap. I hate spicy food, but can’t get enough Mexican fare. I hate to travel, but love to stay at hotels. In other words, I’m a contradiction. Or, maybe I’m just indecisive. Regardless, I like that about me.
I was investigated by the FBI. Ha! That one got your attention. This is always a good ice breaker with new people. Yes, I was investigated by the FBI for espionage when I was only 12 years old. It happened as a result of writing the USSR embassy and asking for information for a school report. They responded and sent me more than 15 anti-American propaganda type books. It was fascinating and must have triggered something for the FBI to look into.
I’m going to end this initial blog here. Don’t want to blab on too much about myself, but I figure that this will give you a glimpse into who I am.
